about

On August 22/23, 2015 the Kingston Jazz Composers Collective (KJCC) gathered together at Newcourt Studio to record new music.

We decided to record using a combination of old and new techniques: utilize the latest digital technology but also use some recording techniques from a bygone era.

The studio itself is one room with no isolation booths or baffles. We set up facing each other and adjusted our playing volume until we could all hear each other. No headphones were used, no overdubbing was done, no editing was done. We recorded multiple takes of each tune then picked the take we were all happy with. What you hear is what we played.

This is the second volume of tunes from the recording session.
